I can not believe how much snow we have seen this winter! It is crazy! My children have seen more snow than I have! The kids were sick at Christmas and when it snowed in January, so they were thrilled that they could actually play in it! Drew LOVED it - Nora not so much! I hope you like the new look to my blog!
I can not believe it has been over a year since I have posted anything on here!
Well, the last year has been a busy one! With two small kids in the house I really don't see how some moms do it! I must say that as they are getting older (they are growing too fast!) things are sort of getting easier!

I really hope to try to post here at least every week! we will see how that works out!

We were blessed with a beautiful baby girl on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 4:13 pm. She weighed 8 lbs. 7.2 oz. and was 20 1/2 inches long. She has a dark hair like me and twice as much as Drew did, he had none! We are both doing great and are at home - resting well :) Just a little update for all my blog followers and here are a few pictures.

Before i get started, let me warn you that this is kevin - not Jennifer posting this time! It's been almost a year since i've written anything on this blog and it may be another year til you hear from me again!!! So, here goes....

Well, as many of you may know, i've been changing the direction of my tree business. After being spoiled by two fantastic employees (Judd and Shaine - that's you), i've been disappointed by everyone else i've ever hired! So, i've decided to simply scale back and primarily do jobs that i can handle all by myself (Turkey's my emergency go-to-man if i get in a pinch). Ok, already - i'm rambling - long story short - i decided to sell my skid steer (here's a pic for all of you wondering what in the world a skid steer is) ... to a fella in WYOMING......AND DELIVER IT!!!! Hmmm... i began to reminisce.... i've made this trip 6 times before when i worked out there.....but never with an 8 month pregnant wife and a 21 month old little boy!!! It shouldn't be too bad, right?!?! Well, honestly, it wasn't!!! Thank goodness for that DVD player Grammy bought! Anybody ever watched Nemo 6 times in one day...... IN A ROW?!?! Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming...!

We definitely had some memorable moments - and that's what i was hoping for - the kind of memories that are etched in your mind - unable to be reproduced on any kind of film! But for your viewing enjoyment, here's a pic of Drew on his "Throne" and one of us crashing after a long day of driving!! They were a couple of real troopers and definitely "Cowboyed Up" to make the trip!!!

After delivering the skid steer and staying with Frank and Karen for a few days, we headed off to Yellowstone and the Tetons! We saw Old Faithful do her thing and then drove on down to Jackson Hole that night (getting there around 1:30am) - Drew was still awake!!! Jackson Hole was beautiful - as were the Tetons and we will definitely be back in a few years to enjoy them for a longer period of time!! We'll add some pics of that leg of the trip later (we don't have those pics uploaded yet).

On the trek home we were able to stop in Denver and see the one friend from high school i still keep in touch with - Cam (along with his wife Rachel and son Cale). It was great to do a little catching up!

About half way across Kansas the big white goat - that's my 98 Dodge Ram - started screaming at me like it was mad!! After an under-the-hood inspection at the rest area i realized that the main bearing on my water pump was on the verge of "crappin' out"!From that point on, for the next 900 miles, we had to stop every 75-90 miles and add water or coolant to the radiator. So... i felt very fortunate that we were able to limp home without having to play mechanic on the side of the interstate!!

Well, we arrived home safe......and tired!!! But very thankful!!!! We brought back a lot of memories..... and Drew, well, he brought back some sort of heat rash on his inner thighs or something!!!!! (He really did and i felt very sorry for him - but we got it cleared up).

Weekend @ Smith Lake

This past weekend my family went to Smith Lake. This was the second time Drew had ever been in a boat and he absolutely loved it! I was afraid he was going to hate the life jacket but it turns out - he didn't mind it at all! He actually fell asleep every time he road in the boat! Here are a few pictures from the weekend. The videos are not the best, but Drew even got to "jump" off of the rock like everyone else. Have a great week - we leave for the beach on Thursday with Kevin's family!

Gramps Birthday weekend

Last weekend we met Kevin's family in Florence, AL for Gramps birthday. We stayed at the Marriott Shoals Hotel & Spa and it was so nice! We really did not have a plan we just did whatever. Saturday we went to the Spring Park in Tuscumbia and just let the kids play. Unfortunately, the battery in my camera was dead and I did not get to take any pictures while we were at the park. We all had lots of fun, we got to ride the train, the carousel/merry-go-round, and there was even a roller coaster! I can not forget that there was an indoor pool and that is where the kids wanted to spend most of their time. Here are a few pictures. Happy late birthday Gramps! Hope you had a great weekend.

Easter 2009

Here is a quick recap of our Easter festivities! Friday Aunt Jeka came over and we went to the shops at Brickerton for the 9th Annual Giant Egg hunt. There were so many children and at least 10,000 eggs to find. Drew was able to find 10 all by himself! We walked around for a little while and saw the Easter Bunny and then left. Sunday morning we woke up got ready and went to church with Mama D. After church we went to Mama D's had lunch and then started dying eggs. Drew had so much fun. He was not sure what was going on at first but he soon figured out he could make a mess! He had blue hands for the rest of the afternoon. When we were done we hid the eggs outside. He got to have his very own egg hunt. We then went to Aunt Anna's to dye more eggs and have another egg hunt. Well, Drew was so tired he slept through most of the dying and hunting. We did save him a few eggs to dye so when he woke up his great aunts could see him dying eggs for the first time. Well, I will just share the pictures now. This is just a few but you will get the idea.

Well, I know it has been forever since I have blogged but a lot has been going on. The last time I was on here was for Drew's birthday. We had a great time with family and we enjoyed pizza, cake & ice cream. Here he is loving his cake!
After the birthday, we had to start planning for Christmas. This year we spent Christmas in Alabama. We went over on a Friday, spent a few days in Nashville. We went to ICE and saw the Rockettes! We had such a great time, I had never been before and the Opryland Hotel is beautiful. Here are a few pictures from ICE. If you don't already know - everything is made of... ICE! It was 9 degrees throughout the building and let me tell you - that is COLD! It was really neat.

We had a great time in Alabama and we came home the day after Christmas. I don't have a single "family" photo of us in Alabama - sorry!

Here is where we get busy! We came home on that Friday, closed on a house that Tuesday, packed all day Wednesday and moved EVERYTHING on Thursday! We had lots of help from family and it all went pretty smooth! thanks for all the help :) Oh yeah, on Wednesday night we had Christmas with my family at our "new" house!

So here we are almost two months later and we are settled in! We still have some boxes to go through and there is not one picutre hung on the wall, but none the less - it is OUR first home! I really do love it! I was always afraid me and Kevin were not going to agree on a house when we found one. We both love it and the location! Well I will leave you with some pictures of my favorite little man! He is 14 months old and walking or should I say running everywhere!

PUMPKIN!!!

This is going to be a quick blog with mostly pictures! Drew was/is a pumpkin for Halloween! He got to dress up first for our fall festival at church. Tomorrow we are going to dress up again and go visit our friends at 4-County. Tomorrow night I don't know that we are going to do too much trick or treating - we will visit our close neighbors and maybe a few other friends!

Oh yeah, here are a few pictures of us carving our pumpkins last week! We had a really good time - our cousins Davis and Madison came over and carved pumpkins with us! I must say... I have never carved a pumpkin before - it is not as easy as it looks! It was really gross, Aunt Jeka made me clean the inside out!

Friday night Kevin's brother and his family (Mark, Bridget, Kyle & Kaitlyn) came into town. Bridget's mom and dad drove up from Bogue Chitto and spent the weekend here too! We had a wedding to go to on Saturday. Congrats to Jason and Leigh Ann Ross on their wedding! It was a short and sweet ceremony - but I forgot my camera and did not get a picture of them! :( Anyway, after the wedding we all had different things to do. Drew and I stayed at the house, he took a MUCH needed nap. Bridget, her mom and Kaitlyn did their own thing, Kevin went to split fire wood and Mark, Kyle and Bridget's dad went to West Point to the Mossy Oak retail store! We all met back up late that afternoon and ate at The Little Dooey. They have the best BBQ around here! here is a picture of us at Dooey. We had a really good time visiting with them. Let us know when you want to come back! We have plenty of room.
Well before I left for The Little Dooey, some friends stopped by on their way home to south MS. Mark, Mandy and Reed Burleson. We have not really seen them since the first of August, so I was glad they got to visit for a little while. They too ate at The Little Dooey so we got to see them twice! Reed has gotten so big since we saw him last. here is a picture of them with Drew.

Sunday morning we got up and went to church. We ate lunch and then, M, B, K & K packed and on their way home we all stopped on the campus of MSU. Kyle and Kaitlyn wanted to ride their bikes around for a little while with Uncle Kevin.

The weather was perfect and we could not have asked for a more beautiful weekend. Hope everyone has a great week.

The Dreaded Political Blog

Before you read any further, understand that at this point and time, I (Kevin) am not endorsing any Presidential or Vice-Presidential candidate. Whoa - Kevin - yep, that's right - this is my first ever blog post or whatever you call it.

In Luke 12: 35-48, Jesus is telling his disciples about managing the masters posessions. This is where the famous quote comes from..."From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." This kind of sets the tone for this particular blog post.

Yesterday, after my help called in sick, i decided that i wanted to do some research on our future President and VP. So, against my better judgement, i spent about 3 hrs on the computer searching through a plethora of political material - from the most liberal sites (Huffington Post... Daily Kos) to the more conservative side (very few from a media standpoint). It was hard to find much about the actual issues ( immigration, fight against terrorism, economy, health care) that i list as a high priority. However, one issue that kept popping up really caught my attention - and these were at sights such as CBS, NBC, USAToday... - regarding the tax returns of the Pres and VP candidates. This may seem rather useless to many, but to me, i believe that ones interests and priorities can be shown by where and how one "gives." I know that Jesus wanted us to give of ourselves and not just our money, but we're all given the same amount of time in a day - but not all given the same resources. Actually, i think Satan loves to give people money because it is the easiest distraction he can use and it seems so rewarding!! Anyways.... i don't want to turn this into a sermon, so here is a compilation of the facts that i came upon yesterday.......and a link to one of the sights that kind of summed up these facts.

The purpose of this chart is not to say that John McCain is a much better person than the other two because he gives more. I just found these facts to be very interesting and thought some of you may too. I won't lie - i do think it's interesting that Joe Biden really cares about the working class, but can't dig down deep and find more than $1,000 out of a $300,000 income to give to a good cause.

As i said before, we're all given 24 hrs in a day, but some of us are given many more resources (money and posessions) .... either from God or Satan!!! How we use these resources, i believe, is a major reflection of our heart within!! It really takes very little to live (even comfortably) -how great would it be if we could "decide what it takes our family to live -purely relative i realize" and give the rest away (even if our income tripled)!!!

Sorry I have been away for so long (since I have so many loyal readers! lol) We took a trip to Alabama and we ended up staying all week. We had a really good visit and got to see most of Kev's family. It is nice to get away but it is always nice to come back home!

Drew had his nine month check up Tuesday and the doctor said he is growing and developing right on track! He weighs 21 lbs. 1.6 oz. and is 28 inches long. He is crawling EVERY where and is pulling up on anything he can.

Well, I have to get busy cleaning - I am having a party tonight and we have another one to attend tomorrow! So it looks like we will have a busy weekend!

Labor Day Weekend...

For anyone who grew up near West Point, they know that Labor Day weekend means one thing... Prairie Arts Festival!It is so much fun to go to. You get to see tons of people that you have not seen in forever and who doesn't like to see old friends? This year will be even more special, Drew gets to go for the first time. It is probably going to be so hot that we won't stay long, but one thing is for sure - we have to get a Funnel Cake! So, if anyone reading this wants to see fine arts and crafts and eat some good food, West Point, MS is the place to be. Hope everyone has a great weekend and maybe we will see you there.

8 months...

Has it really been 8 months? A few friends, Mandy and Audra and Samantha, have recently given birth and reading their blogs and seeing all the pictures of a tiny baby makes me wonder - "where has the time gone"? My baby Drew is no longer a little baby. Don't get me wrong I am glad he is growing like he is supposed to, but it has gone so much faster than I ever thought it would. When we rock at night I think about how small he was when we first got home (7 lbs.). Now he is really close to 20 lbs. and he takes up my whole lap. I remember how we were so careful when we picked him up and changed his clothes and diapers. Now we throw him around like a little rag doll! (not really) While I am talking about growing up, he now has 5 teeth and another looks like it is going to pop thru any day now. He is trying to crawl and is making a little progress. It is so cute, he will get up on his hands and knees and just rock back and forth and lunge at whatever we are trying to get him to crawl to. Well, here are a few pictures of the little guy.

We're back...

Well, we are back from the beach and we had a fantastic time! We were lazy the whole time we were there, slept late and ate until we almost popped! The kids had such a good time and by kids I mean Kevin, his dad and brother. You would have thought they were 15 again playing in the ocean! And yes the little kids had a good time also, they played in the pool most of the time. While we were there we had some "semi" professional pictures made by Utah Photography! They turned out so good and as soon as we get them I will post a few. It was the classic beach setting... khakis and white shirts.

Also, I thought it was time to change the background on the blog. What do you think? It is hard to pick which one you like - b/c I liked a lot of them! Well, I have more clothes to wash and Drew is starting to wake up. I will leave you with one of my favorite pictures of my "men"! This is sort of old but I love it!

Well I guess just to rub it in, we are going to the beach, again. This time we are going with Kevin's family. We are leaving tomorrow and will be back next Tuesday. Getting settled!

Well we are slowly but surely getting settled in the new house. I am still finding things in boxes that I have been looking for since we moved, but for the most part we are back to normal. It is really nice living in town and it is so convenient. If we have to go to the store it is like 15 minutes and you are there and back at the house. At the ranch 15 minutes and we would still not even be in town! Kevin rides his bike as much as he can to runs errands and to save on gas. He says he is going to try to beat the system. Here is a picture of our new house.
In other news Drew is 7 1/2 months old and he is changing every day! He has been teething the last week and it has been driving me and him CRAZY!!!!!!!!!! His top teeth finally broke thru so maybe we can get back to normal. The last couple of nights it is like we have gone back in time to when he was a newborn. Getting up every 2 or 3 hours, crying (screaming rather!) when we change his poopy diapers and believe me that is no fun at all! If you don't believe me, look at this.

We have not had an explosion like this in a very long time! He may look happy but the minute we went to change and clean him he was screaming! Actually, we went straight to the bath tub after this one. We have not had to do that in a long time. All you new moms and moms-to-be, see what you have to look forward too! I have wanted to blog about this for some time now, but at the rate my husband changes his mind I wasn't sure it was going to happen. It is official we are moving - RIGHT NOW! Drew is asleep so I am at our house for now while Kev and his parents have taken a truck load of stuff to our new house in Starkville. Neither one of us has ever lived in Starkville so we thought we would give it a try. We are moving to a really good neighborhood and we are excited and scared at the same time. Well, Drew just woke up so we are going to go to Starkville and take our load of stuff. I will write more later! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Fun in the Sun

This past weekend we decided to go to the beach. My sister went with us and we had a really good time and Drew loved the water. This was Drew's first trip to the beach and I have to say it was harder than I thought it was going to be. A 6 month old at the beach was not easy, for me at least! We left Thursday afternoon and came back Sunday. Nothing too exciting happened so I will share the pictures and hope you enjoy. (I could not get the slide show to work - sorry)

Today, Kevin and I got married 3 years ago. A lot has happened in those 3 years and I would not trade any of it for the world! Kevin has been the best husband you could ask for. He is loving, caring and will (most of the time) do whatever I ask of him. He is a wonderful father to our son and I am so glad God let our paths cross. Here's to many more wonderful years as a wife to the most wonderful man I know!! I love you, Kevin, now more than ever.

It is so hard to believe that Drew is 6 months old. We had a check-up today and Drew weighs 18 lbs. and 13.6 oz. and he is 25.5 inches tall! He rolls and rolls everywhere. He is almost sitting up on his own and he jibber jabbers all the time. God has blessed us with such a precious, healthy boy and we are having the time of our lives! Sunday afternoon/night Kevin's mom, dad and niece came for a visit. Gramps had to work in town so Grammy and Kaitlyn came along to see Drew. When they got here is was storming so bad, our power had actually gone out so we decided to go into town and eat and then go back to their hotel room. I don't know what it is about a hotel room that kids love, but they do! Kaitlyn had such a good time jumping on the bed! Monday Grammy and Kaitlyn spent the day with me and Drew. We had a good time "playing". Tuesday when we woke up we got ready and went to the hotel. Drew went swimming for the first time with Kaitlyn in the big pool! They had so much fun playing. We really had a good time while they were here. Thanks for coming and spending a few days with us. Here are some pictures from our visit.

A late 5 month update

ok, I know it has been over a month since I posted anything, but I have not taken the time to sit down and type. Drew was 5 months old on May 8 and he has had a busy month! He has learned to roll over. Not only does he roll over, he is now doing a "barrel" roll. We can not keep him on a blanket. He weighs about 18 lbs. and 2 oz. and he now has 2 teeth!! Can you believe that? Well, I will leave you with a few pictures. Hope everyone has a great week!

I had my first doctors appointment and Kevin and I found out that I was pregnant! We actually new on April 3 but wanted to make sure so we went to the doctor. We kept it a secret until mother's day (May 13)!! I am really surprised we didn't tell anyone until then but we did good and gave our mothers a very special gift. Talking to his mommy!

Drew was 4 months old on Tuesday and today he had his 4 month check-up. He weighs 16 lbs. and 8.8 oz. and he is 24.5 in. long or should I say tall! He is right on track according to other babies his age. He had to have 3 shots and 1 vaccine buy mouth. I really don't like to see him get shots, but on one of our informations sheets it says: "Shots may hurt a little.... but the disease can hurt a lot!" I know I would rather deal with a little fussing today and possibly tomorrow than have to deal with a horrible disease! He really was a little trooper with the shots. He cried right at first and then daddy picked him up and told him it was OK. Then he came to see his mommy and he got a full belly and went to sleep. Since we have been home he has really been in a good mood. He has been talking and laughing. I am surprised at how well he is doing. Hopefully he won't run a fever and we can have a happy little boy as usual.

Easter Weekend

Well we had a big weekend. Friday we went fishing and Saturday we went to Lake Lowndes. Sunday we went to church with Mama-D (my mom) and then went to my Aunt Anna's. We had an egg hunt - which Drew slept through the whole thing. I hope you all had a great Easter with family and friends. These are pictures from the weekend. Enjoy!

3 months old and so much fun

We had a busy weekend. We went to Alabama to see Hank, Sherri and Fort. While we were there Kevin's family came over for a few hours to see Drew and us (I think). We had a really good time visiting with everyone. When we woke up Saturday morning -Drew got to see SNOW for the first time. It was so pretty! Here are a few pictures.

Well I do not have any pictures with Kev's family - I left my camera at the house, but we did have a really good time visiting.

Hey everyone!
This is going to be a big change for me. I am not used to writing about our life, but with friends and family living out of town this is the easiest way for us to keep in touch. I am open for suggestions so let me know what you think. As soon as I figure out how everything works I will try to post a video of our little man. He has changed our life in so many ways!
